My work is essentially a form of social practice based in ceramic objects and installations. I am an Iranian artist living and working in the US. The tensions between these two nations are visceral almost existential threats. I am trying to bridge the gap of art and the cultural flow of goods and ideas within these geopolitical divisions and increasing antagonism. Restoring symbols and reviving ceramic methods and processes in diaspora is an attempt of preservation and renovation, but perhaps more importantly it is the act of creating a space for us to speak to one another, to create an opportunity for genuine engagement, insight and shared empathy.
